Foundwork is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization supporting access and recognition for contemporary artists globally. We provide a focused digital platform for emerging and mid-career artists to introduce their work to curators, gallerists, and other collaborators across the community

Through Mixed-Media Collage,  Louisville , Kentucky based artist Jan Kirstein Rigor transports her viewer to another world.  Each of her mixed-media art pieces, while simple at first glance, contains an alternate space as vast as the deep recesses of our memory.    She employs painted textures, her own photographs of natural surfaces and the applications of drawing to create an   abstract layering. These translucent   worlds are pierced and challenged by evocative and scratchy brushstrokes.  that swirl around as though they are trying to escape the surface. The atmosphere hangs heavy over forests of  abstract markings, and any perceived  calm is the   signal of an approaching storm.  With each intimately sized painting, she captures the contradicting energy and serenity of an unpredictable internal natural landscape.

Jan Kirstein Rigor has been working as a professional artist for over 40 years and during that time has exhibited throughout the world in Seoul, South Korea, Bangladesh,   The United Arab Emirates, Germany, Italy, France, Finland, Switzerland, Peru, The  United States and even on The Moon.
